Silent Hill Movie Sequel News.
Silent Hill Movie Sequel In The Works

Christopher Gans, French director of Brotherhood of the Wolf and the first Silent Hill film, has been quoted as saying that that writer Roger Avary (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction) and fantasy author Neil Gaiman (Mirror Mask, Sandman) will be getting together to work on the script for a sequel to this summer's Silent Hill movie. No details on the story as of yet and it is unclear whether Gans will direct the sequel as he is currently working on a movie adaptation of Japanese demon killing game, Onimusha.

Avary and Gaiman sound like an ideal team to work on a Silent Hill script. Gaiman excels in the extraordinary and bizarre, while Avary has a penchant for the bloody and violent, both of which are the main ingredients of the Silent Hill franchise. If Gans ends up signing on to direct, this could be one of those rare instances where the sequel outshines the original.

I have my doubts. Majorly.

They probably won't re-use the monsters that were in the first movie, so there will be all-new monsters for this... and of course, if they're following the order of the games, that means that they probably won't apply to James. I hope, at least, that they don't give James an impromptu gender-switch like they did with Harry...

true, like my fiance said: this has the potential to be great, but it could also be a huge misfire if done wrong.

But there's so many monsters between the 4 games I'm sure they can come up with some great ones. I'd like to see more anyway, I didn't think they showed them nearly enough in the first movie.

Mmm, 'tis true. I personally just think that video games were the best possible choice for Silent Hill's medium, and the movies take a lot of that away (and bring idiots into the fandom). Plus, a movie doesn't have multiple endings - there's already been enough "discussion" on which is the "real" ending to each of the games, and I can imagine that anyone but Team Silent choosing an ending would create some issues.

Sup, rambling. Thank you for the update, though! ♥ 'Tis good to get the gossip.

well.. the monsters they used for the movie were odiously from 1 and 2.. so maybe they're gonna use monsters from 3 and 4 (4 I highly doubt though with the ghost/zombie thingies)... BUT.... this movie would be freaking AWESOME!!

I hope Akira makes the music for this.

Besides.. weren't there rumors going around that they weren't gonna make a sequel to Silent Hill 'cause it didn't make enough money?

Ooooh. That does sound promising!

Oooh! I likey. :3 I really wanted a soundtrack for the first movie (with new music I mean) so I hope they have one with the sequal, if they actually do it.

I really loved the first movie, and I'm thrilled to hear that they'll do a second. Maybe I'm one of the few that thought it was a good adaptation, but I did, and I hope the second one will be as well. I know that Avery and Gans were both Silent Hill fans before the movie fell into their laps... I wonder if Gaiman is, as well. Mirror Mask was brilliant, though, so I expect good things, or at least hope for them!

Apparently Gaiman's inclusion with the second SH movie is a rumour ... :(
